All individuals or couples will be photographed using studio lights and a studio background. If a person wears glasses, the person should take the lens out of the frames for best results. Several frames will be available. The best of two exposures will be selected by the studio for printing. All negatives will be kept on file for future reorders. The full order is to be paid at the time of sitting. A 6% sales tax applies to unit price.

 

SPEAKERS & PERFORMERS

Barbara Jo & Gary Miller are members of the 17TH Infantry Regiment. They have been musicians most of their adult lives. Barbara Jo plays the dulcimer, autoharp, recorder and piano. Gary plays the guitar, banjo, harmonica and mouth harp. Barbara Jo, Gary, and their two daughters comprise a family band, "I Can Try," and perform at brown bag concerts, churches, retirement homes and living history events.

Briana R. Johnson is a member of M Company, Custer's 7TH Cavalry. She is a member of and participates in color guard ceremonies for the Air Force ROTC.

Carole Barrett is the Assistant Professor of American Indian Studies at the University of Mary. Her 30 years of research focuses on the Indian point of view of important historical events, especially those involving the Lakota Indians of the Northern Plains during the early reservation period of 1876-1900. She acquires her information from the most primary sources possible, and finds in the pictographic accounts "the rest of the story" so long ignored by historians.

Bobbie Keller is a member of the 17TH Infantry Regiment. She portrays a traveling seamstress and is knowledgeable of the art of sewing and on history of Singer sewing machines. She is a very skilled and experienced seamstress.

Dan Sweeney is past president of the Frontier Army of the Dakota and started re-enacting with the Old Scouts Society in 1986. He is a dynamic reenactor and, as chaplain for the Frontier Army, delivers sermons from the heart.

Claudia J. Berg is the Director of Education and Interpretation Division of the State Historical Society of North Dakota. She is responsible for artifact collections management, exhibition and education programs, publications and field services. She has presented many papers and workshops, authored publications, and is very active in professional and civic activities.

Tracy Potter is Executive Directive of the Fort Abraham Lincoln Foundation. He is an historian with 14 years experience in heritage tourism&endash;six years with the North Dakota Tourism Department and eight years with the Foundation. He was study leader for the Smithsonian Associates "American Legacy Tour" for two years, during which he gave formal and informal lectures on the Great Sioux War of 1876-77, fur trade, Mandan Indians, geology, agriculture and significance of various historic sites.

Kevin W. Kirkey is a member of the 17TH Infantry Regiment and Park Historian of Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park. He is responsible for visitor services, managing seasonal interpreters, program development and special events. Kevin and Kathy Shirber are popular dance instructors in Bismarck. Their dance instruction is educational, entertaining, and fun.

Kathy Shirber is a dance instructor. Kathy and Kevin Kirkey, as dance instructors, have taught dance for many years and successfully competed together and separately in regional dance competitions. Their dance instruction is educational, entertaining and fun.

Mark Kenneweg is the Interpretive Director of the Fort Abraham Lincoln Foundation. He is an expert interpreter, witty, manages seasonal interpreters and produces and directs melodramas. He has studied riverboat uses and built three scale models of the Far West riverboat.

Jenny D. Yearous is the Curator of Collections Management of the State Historical Society of North Dakota. She worked for many years as an archaeologist in the southeastern United States. She worked at the International Quilt Study Center in Lincoln, Nebraska, before joining the Historical Society in 1997. She has a special fondness for quilts and other textiles and has done research on textile history.

Leonard Berce is a member of the 6th Infantry Regiment. He started his military career in 1938 as a member of the 164th Infantry, attended Cavalry School at Fort Riley, Kansas, and served in Australia, New Guinea, Admiralty Islands and the Philippines during World War II. He is a horse soldier.

Dolores E. Vyzralek is the Chief Librarian of the State Historical Society of North Dakota. She joined the Historical Society in 1979. She assists historians, scholars, researchers, students and others in understanding what collection of resources is available and how to use those resources for their work or study.

Mark J. Halvorson is the Curator of Artifacts of the State Historical Society of North Dakota. He has been with the Historical Society for 12 years and identifies antique three-dimensional objects and turns them into exhibits. He created his first museum exhibit at the age of 14 for a museum in his hometown of Rugby, ND.

Merl E. Paaverud is the newly appointed Director of the State Historical Society of North Dakota. He has a Master's degree in Anthropology and is interested in North Dakota history, cultural studies, Native American studies and historic preservation.

Preston Schmidt is a extraordinary musician. He has played musical instruments since he was 3-1/2 years-old, and was fiddle champion in 1999, 2000 and 2001. He has entertained audiences at rendezvous', muzzleloaders' shoots and wagon train campfires. Preston recorded a CD entitled "Round the Fire" that includes hoe-downs, waltzes, jigs and rags.

Garry D. Redmann is the Governor's photographer, and has photographed the official events of six governors. He teaches adult photographic and darkroom courses at Bismarck State College. Redmann has done wedding, family and event photography for 30 years, winning many awards at art and photography exhibits. His work is published in books and many other publications.
