Dues are $6.00 per family (includes children under 18), payable to FAD, and run from January to December. Members will receive four issues of the quarterly publication, the Post Dispatch, each year. Children 13-17 that are to be included on rosters for unit reimbursement at FAD paid functions must purchase an individual membership. Those not wanting to be counted for their unit's reimbursement need not. Children under 13 can not be included in reimbursement rosters.

The FAD no longer has liability insurance as a group. Each individual organization in the FAD must provide its own liability insurance coverage at events that mandate liability insurance. Individuals who belong to the FAD and plan to reenact at any FAD events must join one of the member organizations to be covered or make arrangements with whoever is mandating the coverage.

The Living History Association has a safety manual that the FAD observes at events. A copy of their current manual can be viewed at Safety Manual.
